For safety, comfort, and effective coaching, we ask all gymnasts to follow our clothing guidelines
A leotard or slim‑fit sportswear (leggings/shorts and a fitted top) is the best option for all gymnasts during sessions
Clothing should be close‑fitting, stretchy, and allow full freedom of movement. This helps coaches support skills safely and prevents fabric from catching on apparatus.
Crop tops are only permitted under a leotard, or when a coach specifically allows them for training that requires skin‑to‑skin contact for safe support. These expose the torso, which can cause discomfort or friction during spotting.
Official training kit is recommended, but not mandatory for recreational gymnasts.
Toe shoe are recommended.
All jewellery must be removed before class in accordance with British Gymnastics Body Piercing and Adornments policy. Earrings that have been recently pierced may be taped for up to six weeks during the initial healing period; after this time, all piercings must be removed before participating in any gymnastics activities.
Hair must be tied up neatly in a bun.
Hoodies are only permitted to be worn during warm‑up, layered clothing is recommended during colder months, especially when travelling to and from sessions, to help keep your gymnast’s muscles warm and protected.

Thank you for representing Elevate with pride—we can’t wait to see everyone in their new kit!
Our classes are suitable for gymnasts of school age, most children start gymnastics between 4–8 years, but we welcome beginners at any age as we understand gymnasts may come to rhythmic gymnastics from other gymnastics disciplines, sports or dance at a later age.
During the trial sessions, coaches carry out a simple ability assessment to understand your child’s confidence, coordination, and experience. This helps us place them in the most suitable class for their level.
Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic sport and discipline of gymnastics that blends dance, flexibility, strength, and apparatus handling. Gymnasts perform skills using ribbon, hoop, ball, rope, and clubs, developing coordination, musicality, and confidence
The British Gymnastics Rise Awards provide a structured, motivating progression pathway. Gymnasts earn certificates and medals as they master new skills, helping them track their development and celebrate achievements. Parents can also view their child's progress in class via the Rise Portal.
We’re unable to offer refunds for individual missed sessions, but if the club cancels a class, we may credit the session in accordance with our terms and conditions.
Cases of long‑term injury can be discussed with the coaching team, and an appropriate plan can be put in place to support the gymnast’s safe and gradual return to training.
Yes. All gymnasts in across the club maybe able to take part in displays, and competitions where the level is appropriate to their training, be it internally or externally as well as support the club at events intended to promote the club. Events will be discussed with parents and competitions are optional for recreational and advanced gymnasts.
Parents are permitted to stay and watch only during their child's taster session, thereafter sessions will be closed to viewing due to limited space unless a viewing session is scheduled.
